Denmark, Greenland and US sign Arctic security agreement

Denmark, Greenland and the United States have signed an agreement on security in the Arctic, DR reports. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, Greenlandic government leader Jens-Frederik Nielsen and US President Donald Trump signed the agreement in New York on Tuesday afternoon during the United Nations General Assembly.

The agreement follows several months of negotiations and sets the framework for future cooperation on Greenland and Arctic security.

Under the agreement, the United States will build “two large” military bases in Greenland.

Trump said he looked forward to working with “the beautiful people of Denmark and Greenland”.
