Isavia warns passengers as Icelandair mechanics strike looms

Isavia is urging passengers not to go to Keflavík Airport unless their flights are scheduled to operate, as an indefinite strike by Icelandair aircraft mechanics is set to begin, mbl.is reports.

The work stoppage is scheduled to start at 12:01 a.m. tonight unless circumstances change.

Isavia has posted information banners in Icelandic and English on kefairport.is to alert the public to the impending strike. Guðjón Helgason, an Isavia communications officer, told mbl.is that the airport operator was preparing for a possible strike.

Passengers are advised to monitor their flight status on kefairport.is and through Icelandair. If a flight is cancelled after passengers have arrived at the airport, Isavia staff will direct them to the appropriate assistance.
