No agreement reached on 2027 pelagic fishing

No agreement was reached on pelagic fish at a meeting in London last week, Kringvarp Føroya (KVF) reports. The coastal states will meet again in October.

Iceland, Norway, the United Kingdom and the Faroe Islands have an agreement on mackerel fishing.

The Faroe Islands, the United Kingdom, Iceland, Norway and Russia have an agreement on herring. The Faroe Islands, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Iceland and Norway have an agreement on blue whiting.

The International Council for the Exploration of the Sea, ICES, is expected to issue biological advice next week on how much pelagic fish can be caught in 2027.
