Vestmanna integrates exercise into children’s daily activities

Vestmanna municipality has the Faroe Islands’ only sports kindergarten, where movement is incorporated into children’s play and activities throughout the day, according to Kringvarp Føroya.

The municipality’s daycare and after-school programmes have been certified by the Danish sports association DIF. The aim is to encourage children to move more while giving them positive experiences through physical activity.

The children are not expected to train in specific sports. Instead, movement is woven into play and other activities, making it a natural part of their daily routine. Morten Hust Petersen leads the daycare and after-school programmes in Vestmanna.
