Truck fire in Oulu prompts explosion warning

A truck caught fire on Kajaanintie in Oulu on Monday evening, creating an explosion risk because it was carrying liquefied petroleum gas cylinders, Yle reported. The road was completely closed and people were warned not to approach the scene.

Emergency services received a call about a medium-sized vehicle fire shortly before 8 p.m. Firefighting operations were still under way at about 9.30 p.m.

Nearby are the Välkkylä student residence and the large grocery stores in Raksila.

Traffic was closed on Kajaanintie between Teuvo Pakkalankatu and Yliopistontie, near a cemetery, because of the firefighting operation.
