Public buses to be free across capital region on Tuesday

Bus travel will be free across Iceland’s capital region on Tuesday, September 22, for Car-Free Day, mbl.is reports, citing a statement from Strætó, the public bus service.

Car-Free Day marks the end of European Mobility Week, which began on September 16. This year’s theme was “Transport for everyone, across generations.”

Strætó described the day as an opportunity to leave cars at home and try other, more environmentally friendly ways of travelling. People were encouraged to take part and use the range of transport options available.
