Icelandair mechanics strike could halt all flights

Talks are continuing in the labour dispute between Icelandair and its aircraft mechanics, but no proposals have been put forward, mbl.is reports. Unless the situation changes, an all-out strike will begin at 1am early Wednesday and halt all flights.

State mediator Ástráður Haraldsson said there are no formal meetings under way, but the parties remain in contact.

“There are no meetings taking place, but there are conversations between people. I am in constant contact with the parties and am trying to move this forward,” Haraldsson said.

He said he was seeking to persuade the parties to agree to submit proposals for mediation or some other form of intervention.
