Andersson faces deadlock in bid to form new government

One week after the election, Social Democratic leader Magdalena Andersson has been tasked by the parliamentary speaker with trying to form a new government, but negotiations remain deadlocked between the Left Party and the Centre Party, SVT reports.

Ida Gabrielsson, deputy chair of the Left Party, will discuss her party’s demands on the SVT programme Agenda. The programme will also examine whether the Centre Party is prepared to change its position, with political commentators and opinion leaders joining the discussion.

Moderate Party leader Ulf Kristersson wants to take over the effort to form a government if Andersson fails. The programme will look at how cooperation between the parties in the Tidö agreement should develop.

The Sweden Democrats suffered the largest setback in the election. Their party representative Martin Kinnunen will be interviewed and the result analysed.
