Student recalls fleeing masked sword attacker at Fagersta school

Minnea Wennmyr, 16, was sitting with her classmates when a masked person entered Brinellskolan, a school in Fagersta, carrying a sword, SVT reports. Seconds later, she ran through the corridor with the perpetrator behind her.

A month after the school incident, Wennmyr has described how an ordinary school day turned into a nightmare. She was in an English lesson during the first week after the summer holiday and was preparing to leave for the day.

“It was like any other Friday. You would never have imagined that it would be turned upside down,” she said.

Shortly after 2pm, Wennmyr noticed her classmates suddenly looking behind her. When she turned around, she saw a person entering the school hall with something in their hand.

“At first, I didn’t really understand what it was,” she said.

When people around her started running, Wennmyr followed them. She then looked back and saw that another student had stopped farther down the corridor.

“That was when it happened,” she said.
