Police arrest man over livestock-farm burglaries
Information received by police led to the arrest of a man suspected of breaking into and damaging premises belonging to Stjörnugrís in Kjalarnes, Reykjabúið in Mosfellsbær and other farms in South Iceland and Kjalarnes, mbl.is reports.
Hjördís Sigurbjartsdóttir, an assistant chief superintendent, said the information led the Capital Region Police to open an investigation into the man.
The man, who is in his twenties, was arrested and subsequently confessed to the offences. Police will not seek his detention, and he is believed to have acted alone.
He will be charged with burglary and property damage. The police prosecution division will consider whether he may be linked to further offences.
He is not currently suspected of breaking into Dalsbú in Mosfellsdal. That case remains under investigation, which is progressing well, Hjördís said.
