Police are warning of text messages sent in the name of Iceland’s tax authority, Skatturinn, according to mbl.is.
The messages claim that a vehicle system review shows an outstanding balance of 3,450 Icelandic krónur. They say recipients must settle the amount within 48 hours to avoid registration restrictions and direct them to a fraudulent website claiming to belong to Skatturinn.
Police advise people not to click the link or interact with any other part of the messages.
