Police identify suspect after downtown assault
A young man assaulted in the city centre shortly after 9pm on Thursday knows the alleged attacker, mbl.is reports. Both men are around 20 years old.
The victim went to the emergency department at Landspítali, Iceland’s national hospital, with minor injuries and asked staff to contact police.
Police know who the alleged attacker is but do not know what prompted the assault. They have not yet located him, according to Unnar Már Ástþórsson, chief sergeant with the Capital Region Police. He is expected to be called in for questioning in the coming days.
