Kringvarp Føroya reports that it is unusual for a governing coalition to support proposals from the opposition, raising questions about whether the practice reflects an unhealthy political culture.
Erhard Joensen, a member of the Løgting for the Union Party and part of the governing coalition, described the culture as unhealthy. Last week, he helped vote down an opposition proposal as a coalition member, even though he personally considered it a good proposal.
“The coalition had decided to reject it,” he said.
The radio programme Breddin will discuss whether the Løgting has an unhealthy political culture, whether this has always been the case and what could be done about it.
Former Løgting speaker Bjørt Samuelsen and political scientist Hallur av Rana will take part in the programme, which begins at 10am.
