Paul Watson says Iceland operation is not over

Paul Watson says his organisation’s actions in Iceland have so far been successful, with one of their aims being to draw international attention to whaling off the country’s coast, mbl.is reports.

In a video posted on social media, Watson reviews what he calls “Operation 86” and says the campaign is far from over.

He says the operation has succeeded in part because the Icelandic Coast Guard staged what he called a “performance” when it boarded Bandero, a vessel belonging to the activists’ organisation. According to Watson, the police intervention led the media to pay greater attention to the campaign, which aimed to prevent whaling vessels from setting out to hunt.

Watson also says he plans to take Bandero’s detention to court and fight to ensure that justice is served.
