Police search for man who escaped Kuopio hospital

Police are searching for a 21-year-old man who escaped from Niuvanniemi, a forensic psychiatric hospital in Kuopio, on Thursday evening, Yle reports.

The man escaped while outdoors shortly after 6pm. Police said he may be unpredictable and should not be approached. Anyone who sees him should immediately call the emergency number 112.

The man is fair-skinned, 172 centimetres tall and athletically built. He has short dark hair and brown eyes.

At the time of his escape, he was wearing a tight black long-sleeved shirt and grey trousers. He was also carrying a hoodie.

Police said he may try to travel to the Helsinki metropolitan area.
