Frie Grønne leader Sikandar Siddique has lost his seat on Copenhagen’s city council, DR reports. The decision was made at a council meeting on Thursday.
The move was expected after Copenhagen Municipality determined that Siddique did not live at the address in the municipality that he had provided when he stood in last November’s local election. As a result, he was not eligible to be elected. The decision was upheld by the Ministry of Digitalisation on September 8.
Siddique has maintained throughout the case that he moved away from his family and a house in Herlev before the election to live in an apartment in Copenhagen.
His substitute, Asham Agha Nadeem, will take over Frie Grønne’s seat on the council.
