Kringvarp Føroya reports that prosecutors will not appeal the acquittal of a 70 year old man accused of setting fire to a public toilet in Mylnugøta, Tórshavn.

The Court of the Faroes found that prosecutors had not proved the accused man started the fire. The prosecution had sought nine months in prison without suspension, while the insurer claimed 1.25 million kroner.

The man was charged over the fire on the afternoon of November 9, 2024. According to the indictment, he lit a napkin and threw it into a bin inside the building. He denied the charge.

The judgment is final.
