Kringvarp Føroya reported that artificial intelligence can be a valuable aid, but warned that people risk losing their ability to think if they use it as a crutch or instead of thinking for themselves.
Anette Prehn, a sociologist who has written several books about the brain, said AI can be useful for brainstorming or helping with tasks that a person is unable to complete independently.
However, she said the danger lies in asking AI before thinking through a problem oneself. If people do not use their brains, they risk losing that ability, she said.
Prehn added that research has shown the brain continues to develop throughout life when it is given challenges.
