Weather office warns of strong wind gusts near mountains
mbl.is reports that southeast winds of 10 to 18 metres per second and rain are expected across Iceland today, with warnings for strong gusts near mountains.
The strongest gusts are expected particularly below Eyjafjöll, Esja and Hafnarfjall. Rain will be heavy in places, especially in the south and west.
Winds and rain will begin easing before noon, first in the southwest, while rain will continue in the east into the night. Temperatures will range from 5 to 13 degrees Celsius.
Tomorrow, light northerly or variable winds are forecast, with northwesterly winds of 8 to 13 metres per second in the southwest. Rain or showers are expected at times, and temperatures will range from 6 to 12 degrees, with the warmest conditions in the southeast.
