RentLocal opens private cars to tourists in the Faroe Islands

A new company called RentLocal is enabling private car owners in the Faroe Islands to rent their vehicles to tourists, broadcaster KVF reports.

“We believe tourism in the Faroe Islands benefits too few people,” said Magnus Madsen, the company’s founder and chief executive.

RentLocal is an online rental platform where car owners can list their vehicles, set a daily price and make them available whenever it suits them. Tourists can then book the cars directly through the platform.

The company said many cars remain unused for large parts of the day, while demand for rental vehicles is high, particularly during the peak season when tourists often struggle to find a car.
