Magnitude 4.2 earthquake strikes Langjökull glacier

A magnitude 4.2 earthquake struck the western part of Langjökull glacier at 2:18 p.m. on Tuesday, mbl.is reported, citing the Icelandic Meteorological Office.
Several aftershocks followed, the largest measuring 2.3.
The earthquake was the strongest recorded in the glacier since 2022, when a magnitude 4.6 quake occurred.
The Icelandic Meteorological Office received reports that the earthquake was felt in populated areas of southwest Iceland.
