Þórörnu Gró Friðjónsdóttur appointed healthcare institution CEO

Alma D. Möller, Iceland’s health minister, has appointed Þórörnu Gró Friðjónsdóttur chief executive of the Healthcare Institution of East Iceland for a five-year term beginning on October 1, mbl.is reports.

An advisory qualification committee rated Þórörnu highly qualified for the position. The appointment was made in accordance with Article 9 of Iceland’s Health Services Act, according to a statement.

Þórarna has worked for the Healthcare Institution of East Iceland since 2018, initially as operations manager and later as director of human resources. She has served as acting chief executive since June 1.

She holds a master’s degree in corporate finance, a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a 60-credit foundational diploma in education and educational studies from the University of Iceland.

The qualification committee particularly highlighted her extensive knowledge of planning, public finances and public administration, as well as her long-standing experience in operations and human resources management.
