Pizza festival draws crowds to Kolaportið market

Large crowds visited Kolaportið market on Saturday for the RVK Pizza Festival, where eight of the country’s best pizza restaurants are serving unusual creations, mbl.is reports.

“It has been packed since noon today, with a really good flow of people. Visitors are very happy with this new addition to the food festival scene,” Róbert Aron Magnússon, managing director of Götubitinn, told mbl.is.

The festival continues on Sunday, with the participating pizza makers showcasing different styles and new variations. Visitors can buy individual slices or whole pizzas.

Organisers are considering making the festival an annual event and may invite international participants in the future, Róbert said.

The market stalls at Kolaportið are also open throughout the weekend, allowing visitors to shop before enjoying a hot pizza.
