SÁÁ board to address staff no-confidence declaration

The executive board of SÁÁ, an organisation providing healthcare and treatment services, has acknowledged a no-confidence declaration signed by many of its employees and says action is needed to rebuild trust, mbl.is reports.

Staff members earlier called for the resignation of the organisation’s chair and executive board. The declaration said the serious situation within SÁÁ could not be explained as normal management changes or isolated personnel issues.

It said key managers in SÁÁ’s healthcare and treatment services had left their positions within a short period, while departing managers had raised serious concerns about the board’s interference in the organisation’s professional work.

The executive board has called an extraordinary meeting of the main board for Monday to discuss the declaration and its demands.

“SÁÁ staff provide challenging and important services to patients and their relatives every day. Their voice matters, and the executive board considers it important that a direct dialogue take place with the aim of finding solutions and rebuilding trust,” the statement said.

The executive board said it wanted the dialogue to be constructive rather than conduct the dispute publicly. Its representatives would therefore not comment publicly on the declaration until the meeting had taken place.

The declaration followed the resignation of Ásmundur Friðriksson from the board over disagreements with its majority, mbl.is reported earlier.
