KVF reports that the final exploratory drillings for the Suðuroy tunnel route were completed on Friday in Traðardalur on the island of Sandoy. Preparations for the tunnel project are proceeding as planned.
The drillings will provide more precise information about the geology and terrain beneath Traðarhamar, where a tunnel is planned as part of the road connection to and from the Suðuroy tunnel. The road will take traffic around the village of Sandur and onwards to the tunnel entrance at Djúpadalur.
The results of the geological surveys will now be used in the final design of the tunnel beneath Traðarhamar.
