Finland, murder investigation, Riihimäki

Police are seeking the renewed detention of a 27 year old man in connection with a murder investigation in Riihimäki, Yle reports. Three other people detained earlier this week have been released.

The 27 year old is the same man police previously sought to have detained on probable cause. According to information obtained by Yle, he has a criminal record.

The three released suspects are a 44 year old woman, a 46 year old man and a 52 year old man. Police had sought their detention on the lower standard of suspicion.

The Kanta Häme District Court detained all four people on Monday under that standard. A person can be detained on suspicion for a maximum of one week. Within that period, probable cause for detention must be established or the person must be released.

The new detention hearing for the 27 year old will be held at the Kanta Häme District Court next Monday.

A body was found in an apartment on Otavankatu in the Peltosaari district of Riihimäki at the beginning of September. Police have not released further details about the suspected homicide.
