Police say moped rider fell beneath log truck in Varkaus

Police have not yet located the driver of a log truck involved in the death of a 15-year-old moped rider in Varkaus, Yle reports. Eastern Finland Police said the boy fell and ended up under the truck.

The boy, who was from Varkaus, died at the scene. Police have searched for the truck driver since Thursday evening because the driver continued without stopping.

The crash happened shortly before 7pm at the intersection of Highway 23 and Relanderinkatu in central Varkaus.

The boy was a pupil at Waltteri School in Varkaus. Hundreds of candles had been placed at the scene by Friday afternoon.
