Public can tour Finnish president’s residence after renovation

Finland’s presidential official residence, Mäntyniemi, will open to the public next Friday, Yle reports. Visitors can join tours on September 18 from noon to 4 p.m.

The tour includes the residence’s reception rooms, the small and large salons, the dining room and the garden.

Mäntyniemi, located in Helsinki’s Meilahti district, was opened in 1993 and designed by architects Raili and Reima Pietilä. An extensive renovation that began a couple of years ago was completed this year.

Visitors will be admitted if they reach the Mäntyniemi gate by 4 p.m. No advance registration is required. The address is Mäntyniementie 4.

Staff from the Office of the President will answer questions, while artists will discuss the works displayed in the reception rooms. Photography is permitted for personal use.
