An intoxicated woman threatened youths with a knife at the Torikeskus shopping centre in Sastamala on Thursday afternoon, Yle reports. No one was injured.

Police said about 10 young people were at the shopping centre. Video seen by Yle, which is also in police possession, shows most of them sitting in a corridor opposite parcel lockers.

The woman shouted profanities at the youths and told them to be quiet. She then dropped her backpack, took a bladed weapon from beneath her coat and pulled a knife from its sheath.

She reportedly said, among other things, that she could slit their throats at any time. Near the lifts, she raised the hand holding the knife as if to strike. The youths then left the area using an escalator to a lower floor.

Police are investigating the incident as an unlawful threat and possession of an object or substance suitable for seriously injuring another person.

Police located the woman shortly afterwards and found the knife in her possession. They have identified most of the youths and will contact them and their guardians to establish what happened before the incident and determine the injured parties’ demands.
