Owners of suspended beauty clinics launch new operation

The owners of Nordicshape beauty clinics, whose healthcare services were suspended over serious patient safety concerns, are preparing to open a new clinic in Helsinki in October, Yle reports.

The Avenel clinic will offer botulinum toxin injections and plastic surgery. Its founders say they have learned from the problems identified at Nordicshape and that the new operation will be safe.

The Licensing and Control Agency carried out unannounced inspections at Nordicshape clinics in Espoo and Helsinki in the spring and summer. The clinics’ healthcare services were suspended immediately because of several deficiencies that seriously endangered patient safety.

According to the agency, the company used products containing medicines without marketing authorisation in patient care. There were also shortcomings in the supervision of botulinum toxin injections and in equipment safety.

The agency said Nordicshape’s chief executive was unwilling to correct the deficiencies and did not recognise their seriousness.

Same owners behind new clinic

Avenel is operated by Deconstruct Finland Oy. Samuel Rossi and Taina Heikkinen are listed as the company’s beneficial owners, and Rossi is a member of its board.

Heikkinen is presented on Avenel’s website as the clinic’s founder and lead nurse. According to the Trade Register, Rossi and Heikkinen were the principal owners of Nordicshape and Nordicshape Helsinki, the companies that operated the clinics suspended by the agency in Espoo’s Leppävaara and at Erottaja in Helsinki.

In an email to Yle, Rossi and Heikkinen said Avenel was not intended to circumvent the authorities’ previous decisions.

“Avenel’s goal is not to circumvent the official decisions concerning the previous operations, but rather to use the experience gained to build a new, clearer and better-managed operating model,” they said.

They said Avenel was an entirely new clinic concept and that its operating principles had been rebuilt.

“We also believe that entrepreneurs and professionals in the sector must have the opportunity to learn from what happened, correct their operating methods and continue their activities appropriately,” Rossi and Heikkinen said.

The agency has also carried out an unannounced inspection at the premises of Lääkäriklinikka Estetic Oy in Helsinki this year. The company’s healthcare services were also ordered to be suspended.

Yle reported on Tuesday that the owners of Lääkäriklinikka Estetic founded a new beauty care company on the same day that the agency suspended Estetic’s operations.

Company previously sold building materials

Deconstruct Finland Oy, the company behind Avenel, was registered in the Trade Register in February 2025, before the Nordicshape clinics were suspended.

Its stated business was then the wholesale trade of building materials. The company’s line of business was changed on July 30, 2026, about a month after Nordicshape’s Helsinki operations were suspended.

It is now registered as providing healthcare and beauty care services as well as aesthetic treatments.

Inspections found unauthorised medicines

The agency inspected Nordicshape Oy’s clinic in Espoo on April 8 together with other authorities.

Inspectors found medicines without marketing authorisation and products that contained medicinal substances but were labelled as cosmetics.

The agency said that using unauthorised medicines or products containing medicinal substances on patients had created a serious risk to patient safety. Medicines were also stored improperly in unlocked spaces.

According to the agency, botulinum toxin injections were administered at the clinic without a doctor’s direction and supervision. This was considered to have seriously endangered patient safety.

A few months later, on June 29, the agency inspected Nordicshape Helsinki Oy’s clinic in Helsinki. The healthcare services of both Nordicshape clinics were suspended during the spring and summer.
