Only about 20 to 30 percent of Google’s 13 billion investment is expected to go toward production in Finland, the Ministry of Finance estimates, according to Yle and the Finnish News Agency STT.
That would amount to between 2.6 billion and 3.9 billion euros. Experts interviewed by STT said the investment’s effects on Finland’s economy and employment would be smaller than Google has suggested.
Google has said the project would increase Finland’s gross domestic product by an average of 1.2 percent a year over the next two years.
The Ministry of Finance estimates that the impact will probably remain below one percent.
