Parents keep children home after bomb threat at Nordals School

Several parents are keeping their children home after a bomb threat at Nordals School in Nordborg, DR reports. A note found at the school says an unnamed student will detonate several bombs there on Friday.

Parents were informed about the threat through the school’s Aula platform on Thursday afternoon. South and Southern Jutland Police urged people to remain calm, saying the threat was serious but likely empty.

Karina Stokbæk Hansen, who has three children at the school, said she collected them and would keep them home on Friday.

“If the bomb threat turns out to be more than just a threat, I could never forgive myself for not reacting. My children mean everything to me,” she said.

Thomas Christensen also collected his daughter, Mille, after reading about the threat. He said he would keep her home as a precaution, even though he believed there was probably nothing to it.

“I could never forgive myself if something happened,” he said.

Christensen said he thought the threat was probably a prank by a student who did not understand the seriousness of the consequences. He estimated the risk of a bomb exploding at 0.01 per cent, but said he would still keep his daughter at home.

Semran Duljaj, who has two children at the school, also rushed there to collect them. He said he believed the threat was empty but was still nervous because his children attended the school. He was considering keeping them home on Friday.

Police are continuing to search for the person who wrote the note. Crime prevention officers from South and Southern Jutland Police and SSP staff from Sønderborg Municipality will be at the school on Friday to speak with pupils if necessary.
