Faroe Islands population reaches 55,726 after year of stronger growth

The Faroe Islands had 55,726 residents on August 1, 769 more than a year earlier, Kringvarp Føroya reported, citing Statistics Faroe Islands.

The population grew by 1.4 per cent over the 12-month period. Nearly three-quarters of the increase came from net migration.

The growth was three times higher than during the previous 12-month period, from 2024 to 2025, marking a renewed acceleration after relatively limited growth for more than two years.

The natural increase, reflecting the balance between births and deaths, also grew.
