The criminal case against a man born in 1998 is continuing at the Court of the Faroe Islands, KVF reported. The defence previously argued that he was not fit to be punished in the ordinary way.

The case was heard in November last year. When proceedings were well advanced, the defence raised the issue of the accused man’s suitability for a standard sentence. In such cases, lay judges must take part in the proceedings, meaning the case has to start again.

The prosecution is seeking a treatment order.

The man is accused of detaining two women in a hotel room in Havn. According to the indictment, the detention lasted two hours. He is also accused of hitting one woman, kicking the other and threatening to kill them.

The man denies the charges. He is additionally accused of causing damage to the room.
