Helsinki appeal court to rule in major FBI-linked drug case

The Helsinki Court of Appeal is due to issue its ruling on Thursday in Finland’s largest drug case uncovered through an FBI operation, Yle reports.

The operation tricked criminals in several countries into using Anom, a communications platform developed by the FBI. Information provided by the FBI helped Finnish police identify several people suspected of crimes.

The case involves the biggest investigation in Finland to emerge from the operation. In 2023, the Helsinki District Court sentenced nearly 60 people to prison terms of varying lengths. Most were convicted of aggravated drug offences.
