Two apply to lead University of Iceland pathology station

Two people have applied to become director of the University of Iceland’s experimental pathology station at Keldur, mbl.is reports. The current director, Sigurður Ingvarsson, is due to leave the post because of his age.

Sigurður will turn 70 on October 14.

The applicants are Charlotta Oddsdóttir, head of the station’s bacteriology and pathology department and a member of its board, and Einar Mäntylä, an innovation consultant at Orkídea.

Charlotta is a veterinarian. Einar holds a doctorate in molecular genetics and an MBA in innovation and start-ups.

The application deadline expired at the beginning of August. An evaluation committee is now assessing the applicants’ qualifications and has one month to complete the process, with the option of extending it by one week if applicants submit comments.

Once the evaluation is complete, a selection committee will choose the new director. It will have one month to make its decision.
