Authority suspends Helsinki beauty clinic as owners launch new firm

Finland’s Permit and Supervisory Agency has ordered the healthcare services of Helsinki-based Estetic clinic to be suspended over serious deficiencies, Yle reports. The clinic’s owners registered a new beauty-care company on the same day the agency inspected Estetic.

According to the agency, Estetic’s operations contained several deficiencies that seriously endangered patient safety, data security and device safety.

The inspection took place on August 26. At its conclusion, the agency announced that the clinic’s operations would be suspended. Estetic, which was founded in 2009 and offers aesthetic treatments, has appealed the decision to the administrative court.

On the same day as the inspection, Estetic’s owners submitted a registration notice for Lumina Clinical, a new company operating in the beauty-care sector. The company was entered in the Trade Register five days later, on August 31.

Sofia Kazakov, the founder of Estetic, is on Lumina Clinical’s board. The board members are the same as those of Estetic. The new company’s stated business activities include a medical practice, private doctors and beauty-care services.

Yle tried several times on Tuesday to reach Kazakov by phone and email. Estetic’s website no longer displayed information about the company’s staff in the morning. Later in the afternoon, it published a statement saying that the company had appealed the agency’s decision to the administrative court.

In the statement, Estetic also criticised the agency’s handling of the matter in public and asked the media to give the company ten working days of peace.

According to Helsingin Sanomat, Estetic continued providing botulinum injections even after the agency had ordered its operations to be suspended.

Estetic is not connected to the police investigation into the death of social media personality Olivia Oras, which involved a cosmetic surgery procedure, according to an earlier Yle report.
