Faroe Islands hospital service seeks new deputy director

The Faroe Islands hospital service is seeking a new deputy director with a medical background, Kringvarp Føroya reports. Tummas í Garði has left the position after serving in it for several years but continues to work part-time as a doctor.

The deputy director is the senior medical officer responsible for the hospital service and is part of its management alongside the hospital directors and other deputy directors.

The post also includes serving as a medical adviser to the Ministry of Health and Energy. The hospital service is seeking a specialist doctor with leadership skills, insight into hospital operations and the health sector as a whole, as well as strong cooperation and communication skills.

The hospital service covers the three hospitals and the Patient Hotel in Copenhagen. The application deadline is September 28.

Í Garði had been deputy director for a total of 15 to 16 years. He has now left as a civil servant and works part-time as a doctor.
