Police investigate suspected homicide after girl found dead in Vantaa

Eastern Uusimaa Police are investigating a suspected homicide in Vantaa, Yle reports. The victim was a minor girl.

Police confirmed the investigation but have declined to disclose when or where the girl was found, her age or other details.

“We are at such an early stage of the pre-trial investigation that I cannot reveal more in order to safeguard it,” said Marko Särkkä, the lead investigator at Eastern Uusimaa Police.

Police are carrying out standard investigative measures and have “a lot of matters to clarify”, Särkkä said.

Exceptionally, police have not disclosed even the suspected criminal offences involved. Särkkä said the case includes sensitive information and details that are strictly confidential.

Iltalehti was the first to report on the case. According to the newspaper, the girl was found in a stairwell.
