Steno Centre plan faces political review after bids exceed budget

The future of the new Steno Centre remains uncertain after construction bids exceeded the funding allocated for the project, KVF reports.

The centre is planned as an extension on top of Building C at the National Hospital. Novo Nordisk pledged 63 million Danish kroner for the project, but the bids came to 67 million kroner.

Two bids were submitted during last year’s tender process, from the construction companies Kanjon and J and K Petersen. The centre was originally expected to be completed in 2027.

Sigurð Ólason Vang, head of the Project Department at Landsverk, said the political authorities and the Hospital Service must decide whether the project should proceed or be changed.
