Yle reported, citing Ilta-Sanomat, that actor Seela Sella is receiving care in a palliative ward.

Palliative care is comprehensive treatment that relieves symptoms and protects the quality of life of patients with incurable or chronic illnesses. It can be provided for months or even years.

Sella, 89, said earlier this year that she had been diagnosed with cancer and had to cancel planned performances. In June, she said the cancer had been defeated.

She recently returned to hospital, however. “There is something there,” Sella told Ilta-Sanomat about the results of her examinations, according to the newspaper. She said she could not yet provide further details.

Sella returned to the stage in the summer and appeared in the play “Love Letters” with Esko Roine.
