Man arrested after stealing cans while carrying knife

A man was arrested in central Reykjavík after being caught stealing cans from a container, mbl.is reports. He was carrying a knife and was subsequently charged. Police seized the knife and entered it into their records.

The incident was recorded in the police log covering operations from 5pm on Saturday until 5am on Sunday.

Police also responded to numerous calls for assistance, mainly involving intoxication and fights. Five people were charged with violating police regulations.

Officers additionally received a complaint about noise from an apartment. A group of foreigners was found there and refused to show identification when requested by police. They were charged over the refusal.
