Two arrested with special unit’s assistance in Akureyri

Two people were arrested in Akureyri on Friday with assistance from the National Police Commissioner’s special unit, mbl.is reports.

Heimir Harðarson, a police duty officer with the Northeast Iceland Police, confirmed the arrests but declined to disclose what prompted them.

The operation took place shortly after 1 p.m. at a residential building on Engimýri in Akureyri. Both people have since been released, Harðarson said.
