Finland will provide one million euros in humanitarian aid to Nepal, Yle reported, citing a statement from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

More than 1,200 people were killed in a flash flood near the Chinese border last week, while more than 5,000 remain missing.

The funding will be channelled through the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies to help meet humanitarian needs.

Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio said the assistance would support healthcare services, drinking water, hygiene and sanitation supplies, and temporary shelter for people who have lost their homes in the disaster area.
