Dispute over drug deal preceded Vaasa Midsummer homicide

A dispute over payment for a drug deal preceded a homicide in Vaasa on Midsummer Eve, according to Yle. Police have completed their preliminary investigation into the case.

One person is suspected of manslaughter, attempted manslaughter, a narcotics offence and possessing an object or substance capable of causing serious injury to another person.

According to police, an argument broke out between the suspected perpetrator and the victim over payment. The dispute led to an assault, and the victim later died from the injuries sustained.

Another person who was nearby followed the suspect after the violence. The suspect then assaulted that witness as well. Police investigated the second assault as attempted manslaughter.

The case has been referred to a prosecutor for consideration of charges. The deadline for bringing charges is September 15.
