Finland’s Competition and Consumer Authority, KKV, has conditionally approved Terveystalo’s acquisition of dental care chain Hohde Group, Yle reports.

The transaction will go ahead only if Terveystalo sells its oral healthcare businesses in Seinäjoki, Savonlinna and Mikkeli to Emal Hammaslääkärit Oy, a smaller company entering the market.

The companies proposed the remedy themselves and committed to it.

KKV said its investigation showed that the acquisition would have given Terveystalo a dominant market position in the three cities. The authority found no similar competition concerns elsewhere.

This is the first time since Finland’s Competition Act was revised in 2011 that KKV has approved a transaction conditionally during the initial review phase.

Hohde Group is a rapidly growing dental company based in Kuopio. Yle reported in December 2025 that the deal was worth 88 million euros.
