Central Denmark Region funds new health councils with 40 million kroner

Central Denmark Region will set aside 40 million kroner for new health councils under its 2027 budget agreement, DR reports. The regional council reached the deal late Wednesday evening.

The funding is intended to help ensure a strong start for the healthcare reform, which takes effect on 1 January 2027. Under the reform, the region will take over many responsibilities from the municipalities, regional council chair Anders G. Christensen of the Liberal Party said.

Child and adolescent psychiatry will also receive additional funding, with a particular focus on early intervention. The aim is to help more children and young people before they require hospital-based psychiatric treatment.

The budget also provides for the gradual introduction of free parking for patients and their relatives at all hospitals in the region.
