Police seek witnesses after major vandalism in Akureyri
Police in Northeast Iceland are seeking witnesses after a truck and construction machinery were seriously vandalised in Akureyri, mbl.is reports.
The vandalism took place in or north of Móahverfi, a new neighbourhood under development in northern Akureyri, on the evening of August 31 or overnight into September 1.
According to a police statement, three construction machines belonging to contractor G. Hjálmarsson were sprayed with paint.
Anyone with information or who noticed people in the area is asked to contact police on 444-2800 or at [email protected].
Hjálmar Guðmundsson, one of the owners of G. Hjálmarsson, told mbl.is that the vandalism had come as a complete surprise to the company. He estimated the damage at millions of Icelandic króna.
