Magnus Gaard has written a book about the relationship between people and nature, KVF reports.

While sitting at the Ríkissjúkrahúsið hospital and studying the patterns of his own arteries winding around his heart, Gaard recognised them from the patterns he had observed in tree crowns one winter evening.

Trækrúnulívæðrin – um stríðið við náttúruna, or The tree-crown artery – on the struggle with nature, is probably the first Faroese book of its kind. In it, Gaard examines the relationship between people and nature, and argues that nature has its own life force.

The book also serves as a reminder to view nature from a broader perspective, so that people do not lose themselves in details. It emphasises that humans are part of nature and that nature has intrinsic value.

KVF has published an interview with Gaard about the book.
