Nordic business leaders launch platform to strengthen regional resilience

Ásta S. Fjeldsted, chief executive of Festi, attended her first board meeting on Monday of Nordic Compass, a new platform for representatives of the Nordic business community, mbl.is reported.

The initiative aims to strengthen the countries’ competitiveness and resilience in financial markets, technology, defence and energy, while delivering measurable benefits through targeted proposals.

“The importance of Nordic cooperation for Iceland is constantly growing, not least in light of international developments,” Fjeldsted said in a LinkedIn post.

The Nordic countries have a combined population of 28 million and are the world’s 12th-largest economy, she said. They are known for high quality of life, a strong business sector and innovation, equality and trusted governance.

Fjeldsted said Iceland could contribute to the countries’ future competitiveness and growth through cooperation with its Nordic neighbours.

She attended the board meeting in Oslo alongside business leaders from all the Nordic countries. The group plans to hold the Nordic Compass Summit in Gothenburg on November 5, where practical and specific proposals will be presented to decision-makers, governments, institutions and business representatives.
